LSGK looking to recruit staff as client list grows

Mark Brammar News

An accountancy practice is hoping to fill vacancies at its Leek office to help cope with extra demand following the acquisition of over 130 new clients in the last 12 months.

LSGK Accountants Ltd, who are based in Talbot Street, have seen a big upturn in the demand for their services such as self-assessment online tax returns, VAT returns, capital gains and inheritance tax calculations and corporate tax returns.

Jed Eatough,(pictured), director of LSGK Accountants said: “I realise the jobs market is difficult across the board. Despite offering a competitive salary, benefits and the option of flexible working we are still finding it difficult to fill our vacancies.

“We have lost a few staff due to retirement and change in lifestyle and I am hoping that measures in last week’s Budget to encourage working mums and older workers back to the workforce will help ease the situation locally and nationally.”

LSGK are not the only local employer having trouble filling vacancies as evidenced by a Staffordshire County Council survey in February which showed the number of job vacancies in the county has increased to more than 30,000 – up nearly a third in just a month.
Jed Eatough said: “We did take on an apprentice last year through Buxton & Leek College and that’s working out really well. He has a great work ethic and is keen to make a career in accountancy. However, it takes a few years to get an apprentice up to full fee-earning capacity and its now that we need additional talent to service our growing number of clients.

“We are a successful and progressive practice and put a big emphasis on our community involvement, sponsorship and corporate social responsibility.”

Jed Eatough founded the Dyer’s Den competition for Staffordshire Moorlands based start-up businesses in 2019. He is also a Prince’s Trust mentor, involved with fundraising for @21 youth charity and a founder member of Leek based business networking group, Fox Networking.

In addition, Jed is on the board of Staffordshire Moorlands Chamber of Commerce, a Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce council member and on the committee of the Staffordshire Enterprise Board.

Jed added: “I’m involved in a lot of work outside my day job and would be happy to let willing staff take some of this work on. It is a great opportunity to build your CV and business contacts and its certainly not harmed my career and business development.

“I know there are lots of talented people out there and I’m looking forward to building a full team of progressive people who can share in the growth and prosperity of LSGK Accountants.”
