Leek networking group celebrates first anniversary

A Leek based business networking group has reached a significant milestone by attracting over 50 different businesses since its launch in March 2018.

Gone Fishing 4 Business is a business network organisation supported by Leek based accountancy firm LSGK Accountants.

It meets on alternate Fridays from 7.30am to 9.30am at the White Hart Tearoom in Stockwell Street, Leek. Meetings last around two hours and the cost for each meeting is just £12 which includes a full English breakfast (or vegetarian option), together with limitless tea and coffee.

Unlike other formal networking groups there is no pressure for referrals, no agenda and no commitment to long-term membership.

LSGK Accountants director Jed Eatough said: “The purpose of Gone Fishing 4 Business was always to encourage local businesses to meet and to help each other to become more successful. Always remembering that people do business with people they know and trust.

“We now have a list of 50 attendees from a broad range of businesses with at least 20 turning up to the fortnightly meeting.

“Many attending didn’t know each other previously but are now doing business together and benefitting from the pool of knowledge and business skills within the group. It is a very sociable group and we even had a day out at Uttoxeter Races in June.”

Regular attendee Giles Metcalfe of Giles Metcalfe Digital: “I am not a natural networker; however, I have been attending Gone Fishing 4 Business since it started. It’s a really positive group of people and I’ve picked up regular business and made some great contacts to help me develop my own business.”
